It was cut, pieced and sandwiched in 2 evenings, then came the quilting deliberations. I would love to be about to do a beautiful allover FMQ, but my machine keeps catching the bottom thread when I FMQ, whihc drives me batty. I eventually settled for some free-hand stars on the blocks and the sashing corners, to show the beautiful variegated thread. I've just discovered King Tut quilting threads, and they're my new favourite. This one changes colour every inch, so gives a really good effect.
I'm intending to bind it in one of the stripes from the same fabric range - as long as I leave enough for my quilt!
Ohhhh, lovely Emma! Very stricking, must be that white! LOL May be something you do already, but have you tried winding a fresh bobbin when the machine catchs the bottom thread? Works here for me.... sometimes. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty - I'm loving white in quilts right now, and it's perfect with those fresh, pretty colours.
ReplyDeleteA perfect Spring quilt! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Emma! That's similar to the block pattern I used for my jelly roll baby quilt in blues and reds. I too was surprised how quickly the top came together (but I was still a little slower than you - you are a PRO!) I like the effect you have added with the white sashing, and those cute colourful stars. King Tut threads are great aren't they? It was that very red and blue quilt I speak of that I used my first King Tut thread, a varigated blue one.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I still haven't bought any of that fabric range, might have to do some hunting.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Emma, I just love that fabric. I've bought some to make myself a quilt as well, but half of it went astray in the post *sob* I'm currently trying to convince the quilt shop to order more in for me!
ReplyDeleteWell worth the cut. As aj said, a perfect spring quilt!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! So bright & cheery, perfect for a play quilt!
