Does this quilt say 'Winter' to you?

I'd like some opinions on this quilt design please. It's not made yet; I designed it for a winter swap I'm in. My partner has mentioned on her blog that she loves pink and brown together, which explains the odd combination for a wintry quilt! I think the design looks very snow-crystalesque, but I'm not sure in this colourway it looks sufficiently wintry - what do you all think? It's about 23in square.

  1. That is gorgeous! yes, it says winter to me - probably because of the white and the fact that you're using pastel shades rather than bright shades IYKWIM.

  2. hummmmm It does look 'wintery' but maybe that is the snowflakes falling all over it! LOL
Not sure that I would pick it as 'winter' if I didn't know that that is what you were aiming for...but I still like the look of it and would go with it anyway!

  3. it does look wintery. just imagine looking a snowflake under a microscope - all the different depths give out different light (colors are made up of lights). Sorry - my scientist mind is on overdrive.

  4. Very swirly snowflake to me. I love the colours, if you look at snow in the sun it is many different colours.

  5. unusual design, looks lovely, and looks wintery, but alas doesn't snow in my part of the world, have only seen snow once it was beautiful, but it wasn't actually snowing at the time, but it is a lovely design

  6. It reads April to me, which here in Canada can be either winter or spring, just depends on the year.
The design is very wintery, I agree that it looks like snow flakes or ice crystals.

  7. It says winter to me too, primarily because of the White and soft blue - but I love the pink and chocolate brown on it too as they add that extra little twist.

    Really like it :0)

  8. Definitely winter. Ice crystals, icebergs and polar bears come to mind. Shivering just to look at it!

  9. It does not look particularly wintery, but perhaps that could be enhanced with the quilting. Is the periwinkle fabric a snowflake print?...hard to tell. Wintery or not, it is lovely

  13. It does feel wintery to me, the brown reminds me of trees without their leaves, due to winter frost & and snowflakes falling around them.
