This is leftover binding.
There are strips here from over 60 quilts; a few pieces as short as 5in, several closer to a metre and a lot in between. I can't bring myself to waste them - there must be enough here to bind several lap size quilts! But I need the right quilt; I'm not willing to sacrifice the integrity of one of my designs just for the sake of using it up. Maybe I'll have to design a future quilt with scrap binding in mind?
Or stitch them together and make a fun striped binding. :-)
ReplyDeleteIf you cut your binding at 2.5" you could do some Scrappy trip around the world blocks and / or some scrap vomit blocks.
ReplyDeletewhat about using the binding for some potholders for gifts or for binding and trim on pillowcase type dresses to donate to charity?
ReplyDeleteI love using wacky binding. So far I have done it with kids & baby quilts =)
ReplyDeleteYou are on a roll!
ReplyDeleteif the binding is cut on the straight then you could use the strips to make string blocks.
ReplyDeletei just sew all my leftover bindings together into 1 huge roll and then have scrappy bindings when i make scrappy quilts. uses it all up nicely.
