I made Swimming in the Sun for the blogless Sandi (come on, it's about time!). She requested a doll quilt for her daughter and mentioned a preference for blues and yellows, and pieced quilts. I already knew she liked dolphins...

I knew from the start I wanted to quilt some splashes and the sun on the water.

I redrafted the sun to avoid any curved seams - sneaky!
And here's why I wanted to keep this and the previous swap quilt together on the wall. They went so well, and would have gone perfectly with the beautiful Summer FSQS quilt Helen made.

Just stunning as always Emma! YOu are such an artist when it comes to quilts!!

I love that watery ripple fabric - it works perfectly here, makes me want to dive in and swim with the dolphin. I can see why you were challenged to give those two little beauties away - they look fantastic on the wall together.

Absolutely gorgeous. I can understand why you wanted to keep both of them.

Wow that is just stunning!!! Everything looks so perfect. I think I might have to try a more 'art' style one next, these are just lovely.

Emma your designs are so amazing. Sandi is a very lucky woman to have received such a beautiful quilt.
